Wipeout HD PSN

Wipeout is visually unique amongst racing games. Its gaming kudos enables it to draw on the top graphic designers from both the gaming and print industry. Wipeout HD on PS3 is simply stunning to look at. Although sticking to the tried and tested Blade Runner aesthetic, the sheer pace of the action coupled with an impressive replay and photo mode make this the best looking future racing game around.

Prince of Persia 360

What kept me hooked was the story. I felt like I was playing a myth, that I was part of its world and I found myself completely gripped by the experiences of the Prince and Elika. In fact I found the story becoming very familiar the more I played and it struck me how similar it was to an Aladdin retelling. Being such a fan of this type of myth I couldn't help but make comparisons as I went through the game.

Resident Evil 5 PS3

When Capcom released the original Resident Evil it captivated me. Each subsequent game in the franchise has had me looking for that magic of the first game. Yet with every release, the series has moved ever further from the original, so that by the time I played Resident Evil 5 I had to face the fact that this is not the same game I fell in love with.

Flower PS3

I never thought such a small game could make me feel so many emotions in such a small space of time. Flower is meditative and relaxing, but also uncomfortable and exhilarating in those last few sections. I felt surprisingly protective over the beautiful early world - particularly when it changes later with decay and darkness - the feeling of anger I experienced over what happens was close to shocking.

Street Fighter IV PS3

Right from the awesome intro sequences I was entranced by the rich and stylish artwork that wraps the game. While for some the muscle-frenzied appearance of the game's characters might take some getting used to, for me all the visuals hit the spot. Not only are the characters beautifully rendered and superbly animated, but the backdrops are fantastic too - my favourite being the simply beautiful Drive-in Diner stage.
