On paper, Damnation for 360 has some great ideas for story and gameplay. Unfortunately the game itself bungles all of these strong ideas with incompetent and uninspired execution, resulting in muddled tedium.

I love a good story. Games tell many different stories: the stories told through cut scenes and dialogue, but also the stories that emerge through gameplay, the stories players make for themselves.

Resident Evil The Darkside Chronicles for Wii is a straightforward shooter that slickly revisits some of the series' highpoints, but which lacks the narrative depth of a core Resident Evil game.
Dungeon Maker for DS has an inane story and feels more like work than play, but the cycle of toil and reward makes it strangely addictive.
Left 4 Dead 2 for 360 and PC outdoes even its feted (fetid?) predecessor. But it takes the player to unearth the real story on offer here. Not the thin story of the main game, but the haphazard camaraderie that arises as you play with friends.
Bioshock 2's single player game could never be as fresh and novel as the first installment, but makes up for that familiarity with improved mechanics and an engaging story of its own.
Babysitting Mania for DS may provide a chaotic challenge, but won't please anyone who actually likes babies or children.
Resident Evil 3 on PSN and PSP is an urban nightmare notable more for the stories told by its setting and sense of place than the weak central narrative. As someone who is driven by games that tell a good tale, Resident Evil 3 both underwhelmed and intrigued me.
