Awards

We are pround to sponsor the Family Gamer Age awards. The only game awards for specific age groups. Out of the hundreds of games that come through our door each month, these few games stood head and shoulders above the rest.

We are just finalising our Spring (May) award winners and will have the results here by the end of the month.

Lists

Although we cover a lot of ground through the year, our coverage continues long after a game has been released. These lists help you track those titles that have mots resonated with the association members.

Fable 2 turned out to be an experience that resonated across the association. Whether it was the low barrier to entry, fmaily friendly game design, intruiging plot or just that lovable doggie companion this was an experience that kept us up long into the night both playing and talking about it.

Upcoming Games: This is where each game's story begins. A distant speck on the radar slowly looms into view as we learn more about the game from the developers, publishers and PR representatives.

Rough Guides

Here are our most recent guides to the games we've played:

Battlefield: Bad Company 2 on Xbox 360, PS3 and the PC brushes aside its competitors with an epic single-player campaign and a vastly improved multiplayer mode. Fighting through the dusty villages and dark jungles of South America the Cold War gets even hotter as you try to prevent a deadly weapon falling into Russian hands. With improved destructibility enabling you to raze entire buildings to the ground, Bad Company 2 sets a new precedent for fun with its huge multiplayer maps and satisfying vehicular combat. If you can see it, then you can destroy it.

Easy Piano DS recreated a Bontempi keyboard moment from my youth - the blossoming realisation that music isn't as hard as it looks. Easy Piano on the Nintendo DS is easier than Guitar Hero and DJ Hero whilst avoiding descending into the pseudo music stylings of Wii-Music.

Reviews

Here are our most recent guides to the games we've played:

Call Of Duty Modern Warfare comes to the Wii with a Reflex moniker. Once you adjust to the Wii-mote controls there beats a great game. But, as usual, I'm all about the multiplayer, and for Call Of Duty Modern Warfare Reflex this comes in both online and campaign modes.

Pony Friends 2 DS simulates Pony ownership to a tee. Solid visuals, simple controls and surprising depth combine to offer an engaging experience.

Nancy Drew: The Model Mysteries DS turns us into the teen sleuths with a casual experience that leans heavily on its Nancy Drew kudos. Despite my daughter being a big fan of the previous games, The Model Mysteries turned out to be a little thinly-drawn for her. That said she still wanted to finish the game for the Nancy Drew story element if nothing else.

Editorials

Here are our most recent guides to the games we've played:

Sometimes it takes our kids to remind us what we enjoy. Watching my son play New Super Mario Brothers inspired me to pick it up again and have a go. I'd played it when it first came out but had got distracted by the next new game on my PS3, Uncharted 2 I think.

Choosing the right game is an important decision, they are not cheap after all. Once you have identified the games you set-up supports, you then need to choose what style of game best suites the people you play with.

A few months ago I wrote a review of the Japanese release of Bayonetta. But reading back recently I'm now having second thoughts. The game had left me uninspired so I wrote the review out of a desire to produce some early reactions. But along the way my discussion took me away from what was really important - that Bayonetta left me cold. It was a situation where I could see what the game was doing, but only more recently started to appreciate it.

Recomended Games

Recomended Games: These are games we have lived with for some time. We've tracked them through the New Hot Family Games list, covered them in our Guides and Reviews. Out of the hundreds of games that come through our door each month, these few games have stood up to this rigerous test to arrive here. A firm family favourite, bingo, looked like it was on the way out with the recent closure of a large number of bingo halls across the country. Also, a great game for older members of the family is online bingo have fun online chat and win prizes.

Today games seem to be making their way off the boards and onto the Internet, all our favorite games can be found online.

Many popular television show are now coming out as games. Deal or no Deal is a great example, you can enjoy the game show on T.V with your family and then indulge in a game online.
