My Xbox told me this game was good, but then it does have a strange sense of humour. Unlike other XBLA games like Battlefield 1943, 'Splosion Man is amateurish and not up to snuff in my little black book.
Peggle on the 360's XBLA is an enjoyable if short lived experience in solo format that becomes an addictive, compelling puzzler once you're online and multiplaying against the rest of the world.
Battlefield is frankly a brilliant game, Xbox Live Arcade or not. Quality maps, modes and attention to detail make this seem more like a big boxed title than a little download. How did they do that?
Castle Crashers on Xbox live is a treat to play. Simple direct and great fun. With my usual multiplayer specs on I also found other players that treated me well, and a game with loads of collaborative angles. This was only slightly tarnished by getting unexpectedly kicked to the lobby by the game a few times.
Rainbow Islands: Towering Adventure intelligently updates the Bubble Bobble sequel. Amongst a plethora of spin offs, for the first time we have a fitting follow up to the classic 90's arcade, Amiga and Atari ST hit Rainbow Islands. The games exquisitely balanced Challenge Mode had me transfixed, so I'll be zooming in on this baby for my Closeup review.
After the success of the first season of 1 vs 100 on Xbox 360's live service, season 2 is back to challenge our general knowledge between 19th of November and February 14th 2010. The format has been updated a little, but essentially remains to be a fresh quiz game format that captures the thrill and tension of our beloved Friday night TV shows.
South Park, undoubtedly, is one of the funniest animated series on TV right now, up there with The Simpsons and Family Guy. But in my experience, any game released that is tied in to any film or TV series is usually a disappointing waste of time.
This brilliantly named, Encleverment Experiment, quiz-style game has hit Xbox Live Arcade with a bang, giving its players fun, engaging puzzles and challenges that'll entertain everyone. Sporting everything you could want in a puzzle game, and going further into the realms of confusion than you ever thought possible, Encleverment Experiment is one of those really really great games that'll entertain, challenge and frustrate you for hours on end.
Playing Sam and Max Beyond Time and Space on the 360's Xbox Live Arcade brought back some fond nostalgic memories of halcyon days playing other point and click adventures. It made me want to play them though, and definitely not Sam and Max.
